Bolden Set to be Named NASA Administrator





Bolden joined NASA in 1981 and flew four missions, STS-61C in 1986, STS-31 in 1990 which launched the Hubble Space Telescope, STS-45 in 1992, and STS-60 which was the first American space shuttle mission to the Russian Mir Space Station in 1994. He left NASA in 1994 where he became Deputy Commandant of Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy. Bolden's nomination by the President would be subject to confirmation by the United States Senate lead by his advocate - Florida Senator Bill Nelson.
