Cassini ISS images (05-18-2009 - 05-22-2009)

The following new images taken by the Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) on the Cassini spacecraft are now available:
  • Star Companions (Released 18 May 2009)
Atlas is seen in this image with several background stars as the moon orbits within the Roche Division -- the region between Saturn's A and F rings.
  • Odysseus and Penelope (Released 19 May 2009)
Two large craters named after characters in Homer's Odyssey take the stage in this scene on Saturn's moon Tethys.
  • Daphnis' Waves (Released 20 May 2009)
Saturn's moon Daphnis creates waves of disturbance in the Keeler Gap in this image of the wide A ring and narrow F ring.
  • Prometheus' Two-Step (Released 21 May 2009)
Saturn's moon Prometheus continues its dance with the planet's F ring, creating channels in the ring and streamers of extracted ring material as a result.
  • Shadow Slipping Through (Released 22 May 2009)
The partial shadow of the moon Tethys demonstrates the variations in density across Saturn's rings.
