Cassini ISS images - July 6-10, 2009

The following new images taken by the Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) on the Cassini spacecraft are now available:
  • Shadow of Saucer-Shaped Moon (Released 6 July 2009)
Saturn's moon Pan, orbiting in the Encke Gap, casts a slender shadow onto the A ring.
  • Somewhat Flattened South (Released 7 July 2009)
The Cassini spacecraft looks toward the flattened south pole of Saturn's small moon Epimetheus.
  • Bright Duo (Released 8 July 2009)
The moon Prometheus and a bit of Saturn's northern hemisphere are both brilliantly lit by the sun here, making the A ring seem dim in comparison.
  • Wispy Line (Released 9 July 2009)
The Cassini spacecraft looks toward the wispy, fractured terrain of the trailing hemisphere of the moon Dione.
  • Epimetheus' Shadow (Released 10 July 2009)
The shadow of the moon Epimetheus is cast onto Saturn's rings, striking the outer-most part of the A ring and only just nipping the F ring.
