Cassini ISS images - November 23-27, 2009


The following new images taken by the Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) on the Cassini spacecraft are now available:
  • Slanting Shadows (Released 23 November 2009)
    Long shadows stretch away from the towering edge waves created by the gravity of the moon Daphnis in this image taken a little more than a week before Saturn's August 2009 equinox.
  • Roughed-up Rhea (Released 24 November 2009)
    The Cassini spacecraft looks toward the battered surface of the moon Rhea.
  • Streamer-channels and Shadow (Released 25 November 2009)
    Saturn's moon Prometheus, orbiting near the streamer-channels it has created in the thin F ring, casts a shadow on the A ring in this image taken a little more than a week after the planet's August 2009 equinox.
  • Iapetus' Terrain (Released 26 November 2009)
    Iapetus shows off its puzzling light and dark terrain.
  • Shadows Above and Below (Released 27 November 2009)
    The shadows of two moons appear on Saturn, above and below the plane of the planet's rings.
